If you have chosen Kauai as your desired Hawaii vacation destination, you are way ahead of the game. Now you must decide between a condo, home or hotel room. This can be confusing without properly understanding the amenities each type of property has to offer.

First, let’s consider Kauai Condos. Here you will find more space than traditionally available than hotels, which can be important if you are a family traveling or if you simply value your privacy. These condos often have one or more bedrooms, living rooms, and full kitchens. With this type of arrangement you have more flexibility than afforded you with a hotel room, giving you the opportunity to prepare your own meals if you wish or simply relax in comfort.

Kauai Vacation Home Rentals are even bigger than condos, offering more space to spread out. This can also be an important advantage for traveling families who may find themselves cramped in hotels or even in condos. Many such home rentals also offer washer and dryer facilities, an important consideration for extended vacationers who do not wish to use Laundromat or dry cleaner facilities.

Honeymooners or couples traveling to the island for a romantic getaway will delight in the complete and utter privacy made available through a vacation home rental. Enjoy a completely private dinner by candlelight while watching the reflection of moonlight on the ocean, all from the privacy of your own oceanfront dining room.

Both of these types of accommodations are generally less expensive then hotels. In fact, many visitors are frequently surprised by the affordability offered by Kauai vacation home rentals. They are also great for families seeking additional privacy. This option is popular with multiple couples who can share rooms in these rentals to further cut expenses, as well as families who choose the island as an exotic backdrop for their next family reunion.

In addition, while many people may be attracted to the daily rates available at hotels and be turned off by mandatory weekly rates for some vacation rentals, it is important to note that this is not always the case. In fact, many properties available through Kauai vacation rentals are available with both very affordable daily rates as well as weekly rates. Not planning to stay an entire week? Book a condo, bungalow or home rental with a daily rate instead and take advantage of the numerous amenities available only through a vacation rental.

Beyond the affordability factor, vacation rentals present travelers with the freedom and comfort of home, all located in an atmosphere that is relaxing, beautiful and perhaps most importantly, private. Whether you’re looking for a beachfront villa, private oceanfront luxury home, ocean view resort condo or a quaint Kauai cottage or bungalow, you can take advantage of all the many amenities offered through Kauai vacation rentals.

Business travelers are not immune to the benefits offered through vacation home rentals, either. With the availability to conduct business and conferences in private along with private lanais for entertaining while enjoying sweeping ocean and mountain views, many business travelers feel this provides a perfect blend of amenities and privacy.

Kauai Hotels have more elaborate lobbies, grounds and pools. There are generally shops and restaurants in the hotel and they have daily maid service and a bellman to help with luggage.

One thing to note; however, is that Hotel facilities such as the Spa, golf and restaurants are available to everyone, even if you are not staying there. In addition, many condo and vacation home rentals are also available with similar amenities as hotels, including access to fabulous golf courses and spa services. Through arrangements with property managers you may also be able to schedule regular maid service for your vacation home rental as well, taking the worries and hassles of picking up after yourself while on vacation completely out of your hands. With the wide variety of restaurants available on the island, preparing meals in your vacation rental is truly an option you can either take advantage of, or if you wish you can instead try a delicious new restaurant each day of your stay.

Finally, an advantage many hotels cannot usually offer that is often available with vacation home rental is the availability of private beach access. When staying in a hotel you are at the mercy of public beach access; and while this is certainly fine for many vacationers, others prefer a more intimate and private atmosphere in which to enjoy the fantastic sunsets and ocean views. Kauai vacation home rentals provide this amenity, allowing you to truly relax in comfort and privacy.

Staying In Benidorm, Costa Blanca, Spain

The sea side resort of Benidorm sits on the Costa Blanca coast of Spain, on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea.

English holiday makers are especially fond of the Benidorm holiday on offer, being able to select from a wide choice of non catered, half board, full board and fully paid for packages, such as those at The Calypso Hotel, Benidorm.

The town is best known as a sea side destination attracting vast amounts of holidaymakers every year. The Benidorm population of 65,000 is outnumbered in high season as the huge amount of accommodation in the coastal destination fill up with holiday makers. Much of the local economy is now dependant on tourism, which, as with most other destinations around the globe has suffered with the worldwide recession. But now, as markets are now better, the town will quickly find the benefits of improving economies across the west and perhaps even the globe, as it forms a reasonably priced travel town for many tourists.

A famous image of Benidorm is the high rise effect of the resort – in relation to the population of permanent residents, the nature of the buildings defining the skyline is very rare. This is a clear representation of the importance placed on the holiday trade. Positioned to the rear of the skyscrapers are the huge mountainranges of the Costa Blanca area, a formidable scene especially in the glorious sunshine.

Benidorm layout consists of Levane and Poniente, two discrete districts. Even the beaches are known by their respective areas, joining in the middle at the Benidorm Old Town which spreads back into Benidorm from the sea front. The old town is a relaxing break from the unmissable holiday maker side effects of hotels as far as the eye can see elsewhere in the destination.

The location is unique in that it is encased by mountainous terrain and has very consistent weather patterns, often recording temperatures of at least the mid twenties in degrees centigrade in high season. This explains the appeal to British holidaymakers, a virtually guaranteed summer get away.

Hotel room prices can be misleading. Because you see a low price advertised do not assume that it is good value. Always ask some questions and do a little research:

Location – If a hotel is located out of the way then you will need to factor in the extra travel costs that you will incur. If you have your own transport, then this is not such a big deal, though you will still be paying at least a bit extra for gas, but if you are relying on taxis and public transport then it is certainly something to consider. Ask about a free shuttle service too, as some hotels provide one whereas some do not.

Amenities – Have you found two hotels that are charging the same price? Check further into what is included in that price. Does one hotel have a gym and pool and the other does not? That makes the first hotel a better value. Suppose you have no plans to use a gym or pool. Then the second hotel may be a better value if it offers other services that you might rather have. Keep in mind that every extra amenity that a hotel offers is factored into the price of your room.

Hotel food – If you are planning on staying in a hotel for several days, chances are good that you might want to grab a meal in the hotel’s restaurant. Most hotel restaurants overcharge for the convenience of eating in the same building that you are staying in. The question is: How much is your hotel overcharging? When comparing two or more hotels, ask how much a simple meal such as a hamburger and fries costs. If the cost is over $12.00, you are being overcharged. That fact alone might help you decide which hotel is the better value.

Breakfast – Is breakfast included in the cost of the room? Lots of hotels offer continental breakfasts of coffee, juice and toast, rolls or pastries. Some offer full buffet style breakfasts. If you are not planning on eating in the hotel, you might ask for a discount. If you have children or a group with you, that breakfast can be a big money saver – depending on the cost of the room – so you might want to look for a hotel that offers breakfast.

Check out time – Different hotels have different check out times. Look into this before booking a room. You may not want to leave your room before 11am, noon or 1pm. If checkout is very early, see if you can negotiate a discount. If you get into the room very late the night before, see if you can get a later check out time. Hotels will sometimes compromise. Some hotels will also hold your luggage for you while you site see, either earlier than your check in time or later than your check out time.
